We Want Your Old Hallowell Day Commemorative Print Entry!!!
The Old Hallowell Day Committee invites Maine artists to submit an entry for the Old Hallowell Day 2011 commemorative print. Your submission should depict the rich architecture and scenery of Hallowell and capture the spirit of our vibrant community on the Kennebec River. All entries must be submitted by noon on February 12, 2011.
Artwork must be an original watercolor, mixed media, drawing, oil or acrylic and of a size similar to the printing size. It can be of vertical or horizontal orientation. The artwork should not leave empty space for text and should be submitted unframed. You may submit sketches for your idea at this point, but if you choose to do this, please submit three samples of your artwork (on any subject) just to give the judges an idea of what the finished piece may look like.
How to submit your work
Deliver originals to the Harlow Gallery, 160 Water Street in Hallowell between now and noon on Saturday, February 12, 2011. Be sure to call ahead because they are doing renovations and are not open to the public again until February 9th. Call 622-3813. Please label each submission with artist’s name, address, phone number and email . Or you may email jpg images with complete contact information in the body of your email to firstname.lastname@example.org. If you have questions, please contact Susan MacPherson at email@example.com.
The winning artwork will be purchased by the Old Hallowell Day Committee for $500. It will become the committee’s property and will be used for the commemorative print, sized to approximately 14 x 11 for printing. The artist will receive one copy of the final print for free.
The winning artwork will be used for the Old Hallowell Day 2011 commemorative print, which is sold to help support this exciting community event. It may be used for the program book cover and for a t-shirt print also. Text may be added outside the edge of the artwork for Old Hallowell Day purposes so it is not necessary to leave room within the artwork for text. The final artwork must be finished and delivered, ready for printing on or before Monday, May 2, 2011.
The winning artist will be featured in the Old Hallowell Day program booklet and on our website http://www.oldhallowellday.org, with a personal photo and biographical information. The artist must be available for promotional opportunities on Old Hallowell Day 2011, Saturday, July 16, 2011.
