Visit the Old Fort Western encampment on Old Hallowell Day! They’ll be located on Water Street just south of Gows Lane all day.
Old Fort Western is an integral part of Hallowell’s history. From 1754 until 1797, Fort Western was located in Hallowell in the County of Lincoln. Old Fort Western staff and the Howard Company will share this history with the residents of Hallowell.
Reenactors will demonstrate various aspects of 18th century life such as cooking, and weaving. The Howard Company will sail a reproduction 18th century bateau down from Old Fort Western and fire a 1 lb cannon volley from the shore before docking at the Hallowell Public Boat Landing. While at the camp children of all ages will be invited to sign the muster roll, march and play 18th century games.
