Hallowell boasts an amazing selection of fine restaurants of every description and most of them will have something special going on on Old Hallowell Day.  Old Hallowell Day also offers some once a year culinary treats, many are long standing traditions that are well beloved.

FRIDAY, July 15, 5 – 7 pm Lobster Roll Supper plus Sing-along – St Matthews and St Barnabas Episcopal Church, 20 Union Street – Menu: Lobster Roll, Chips, Pickle, Beverage, Homemade Pie $15.00; or Hot Dog/Roll, Chips, Pickle, Beverage, Homemade Pie $8.00. After supper join us in the Sanctuary for a Hymn (plus) Sing-along.

7 – 9:30 am Old Hallowell Day Café – Sacred Heart Parish Hall, Summer Street – Come join us for a nice healthy breakfast of mixed fruit, yogurt, juice, pancakes, bacon, kielbasa hash, bagels, English muffins, coffee cakes, muffins and Bolley’s famous donut holes! We will also have some good “wake-up coffee” and other assorted beverages. Children under 12: $3.00, All Others: $5.00, Family: $12.00

8 am – 2 pm Cotton Mill Fair – Cotton Mill Apartments, 2 Academy Street – Stop by for fresh donuts and coffee ($1), mouthwatering crabmeat rolls and chips ($6), or delicious hot dog and chips ($2). Water and soda ($1). For dessert, an assortment of home baked goods. Bargains galore on the White Elephant Table. Beautiful crafts, discounted jewelry, and a variety of books are available. A spectacular raffle of gift cards and gifts donated by local merchants. See you at the Fair!

9 am – 9 pm Old Hallowell Day Food Court– Granite City Park, the base of Winthrop Street – Enjoy a wonderful snack, lunch or dinner in the Granite City Park at the base of Winthrop Street. Picnic tables will be set up on the dock. Enjoy the beautiful Kennebec River – Sturgeons will be jumping and Eagles will be flying! Vendors will be open until after the fireworks!


10 am – 12 pm Cupcake Baking Contest and Sale – Slates Bakery Parking Lot – Union & Water Streets – Come enjoy the results of people baking their best cupcakes in 5 categories: age 12 & under, age 13 – 17, professional & adult. The 12 & under and age 13-17 categories can be any flavor cupcake with a Marvel Comics theme! Enter your cupcakes between 9-9:55. NOTE new time! The contest starts promptly at 10 am!! All cupcakes will be sold for $1 each. Bring your friends and family and sample lots of different flavors.

11 am – 1 pm Strawberry Shortcake Luncheon —American Legion Hall, 114 Second Street – An annual tradition! Stop in for a sandwich, chips, a beverage and, of course, the Legion’s famous strawberry shortcake – a freshly baked dessert biscuit smothered in fresh NATIVE strawberries and heaped with whipped cream topping! $6 per person.

11 am – 1:30 pm Free Cookout – First Baptist Church, corner of Union and Franklin Streets – FBC is excited to offer to the community another free cookout – hot dogs, hamburgers, chips and soda.

11 am – 2 pm 4th Annual Super Fun in Motion hosted by The Hearts for Ezra Foundation – Vaughan Field, Vaughan Field Way near Middle & Lincoln Streets – Come listen to music by Rob Duquette. Super amazing children’s event celebrating how strong and active our bodies can be. Fun includes 2 bounce houses, a kids’ obstacle course provided by Kennebec Valley Coaching, face painting, arts and crafts, and more. Fresh Ella’s Ice Cream Truck will be on site selling yummy treats, and El Toro Maine will have their food truck as well. Fun for all ages!
