Hills and Thrills Bike Ride

Our 2018 Old Hallowell Day Hills and Thrills Bike Ride was a success!  We had 23 riders, which is the highest we’ve had in any of our four years. Initial feedback was that people enjoyed the ride, even the challenging hills.

Many thanks to our sponsor (George Lapointe Consulting), and also a shout out to Mathieu’s Cycle and Fitness for providing everyone with a water bottle.

Interesting tidbits:

–          There were 14 new riders, and 9 returned from previous years.

–          The average age was 49 years, with the youngest being 22 and the oldest rider at 73.

–          Also, while many riders were from the area (Hallowell, Augusta, Farmingdale, etc), we did have riders from Bangor, Portland, and mid-coast communities.

Looking forward to next year!

Hills & Thrills Old Hallowell Day Bike Ride

Saturday, July 21st, 7:30 AM Hallowell Boat Landing, Water Street
Old Hallowell Day is hosting its fourth Hills and Thrills Bike Ride, which takes cyclists on a journey through the beautiful rolling hills of Hallowell and neighboring communities.  The ride is between 20-25 miles.  For those who prefer more of a challenge, there is a hilly detour that adds another mile and an additional 200 feet of climb. This detour ascends one of the more notable hills in Hallowell – Central Street.
This recreational ride is for moderately experienced cyclists. Due to the distance and the hills, beginners and children will not do well.
The ride ends in downtown Hallowell, near the Arts and Crafts section.  Riders are also invited to meet at the Liberal Cup after the parade around 12pm to toast each other with a local brew for completing the ride and conquering the hills.
$25 registration online at http://www.bikereg.com/ohdcycle. T-shirts for all who pre-register.
